Everything makes a good subject
– even lunch!

……washed down with a
nice glass of wine!

Some surprising subjects make good
trompe l’oeil
Janet
has become a leading exponent of trompe l’oeil
because of her extraordinary ability to make her work look three-dimensional
and her understanding of perspective. During
this session she explains how to achieve this yourself, working
on a small scale, with small subjects for example leaves,
fruit, a wine glass, fabric,
wood and stone. She starts with
observation and drawing skill
in the studio and then uses imaginative simple still-life
subjects to move quickly into practicing mixing true colours
- accurate matches you need for detailed trompe
l’oeil work using good quality Golden
acrylics. The course is designed to improve
the standard of your painting, no matter what your previous
experience is. Classes are very small and personal
and even absolute beginners will be welcomed
and helped to improve their painting technique.

Student painting - some very small subjects can be rewarding and
exciting to paint!

Wit and humour make good trompe l’oeil – but only
if you do it well!
This
session is geared towards detail rather than
the whole mural picture (for this you need to
enroll on the ‘Learn
How to Tackle a Mural Course) but it’s worth
bearing in mind that it is often the detail that
makes a project successful.
