Trompe L’Oeil enthusiasts – even complete beginners - now come from all over the world to visit Cornwall and spend a week or two painting in Janet's delightful studio where she shows them how to see the world in a completely different way!.
She began teaching after a small article about her work in a glossy magazine mentioned that she invited people to study with her in Cornwall and learn the art of trompe l’oeil painting.

The first course she put together - Learn How To Tackle a Mural – was so successful that New Holland Publishers UK commissioned her first unique book based on the course - ‘The Art of Illusion’ - ISBN 1-85974-278-5 (now in paperback with a new title, 'Janet Shearer’s Trompe L’Oeil Painting Course' - ISBN 1-84330-308-6) which is currently printed in three languages and has sold thousands and thousands of copies worldwide.
