| We
all love colour, texture, humour
and illusion. Painting a mural
means using them all. We like to change walls from the bland, bare
anonymity of a single colour to tell a story. Once a mural exists
on a wall, that plain surface is lost, changed into another world
in another dimension.
Many of us lose confidence in our own creative
abilities because we don’t believe we can match the expertise
of professional artists. Whilst I don’t deny the magic and
mystique that some folk are fortunate enough to be born with, the
skill to draw and paint well can be learnt and, given a little practical
guidance, anyone can do it!
During twelve years of running painting
courses from her studio in Cornwall, Janet
has seen the pleasure people experience when they realize they can
achieve the painting they have pictured in their mind because they
have been shown how to do it. Unleashed into a
fantasy world of make-believe, released from the confines of diminutive
works of art, and maybe at the same time escaping from humdrum lives,
people can, with a bit of sensible help and advice, develop their
own ideas into the most wonderful illusions. |
