Progress of Trompe L’Oeil Mural for Colortrend, Dublin

Posted on October 26th, 2012

Hello again,

Continued to paint view into ‘trompe l’oeil’ window, trying to make the interior as warm and attractive as possible. I asked someone to pose for me as exterior decorator and added colourful detail to his shirt. My client had chosen the wall colours and I felt the wide space needed brightening up!

I also battled with sloping ground line. The final image would take the form of a print and I was nervous about scaling up the exact measurements so that the slope fitted the actual wall!

Progress continues on Colortrend painting

I began to add more detail to the window, using a neighbours kitchen for inspiration!

Gradually the whole thing came together, but I felt that ten days was rather too little time for true excellence! I was working under extreme pressure as an ‘unveiling ceremony’ in Dublin was imminent!

Finished painting ready for photography by James Ram

And the day before the unveiling…..

Delivered on time and fitting the space perfectly!

I thought the print should have been more matte….. but at least the fit was perfect! On to the next painting!
